Royal Beast Suit - Pink Princess

Royal Beast Suit

We have been selling the Beast costume since before it even appeared on our website. And it’s no wonder too — the costume is perfect for Disney cruises, costume parties, Halloween, formal events, and so many other occasions!

We love the attention to detail that was put into designing this costume.

The coattail tuxedo jacket is a perfect combination of royal blue and gold-yellow.  It has an irremovable fabric panel on the back which is held in with buttons, and on the front the jacket has a dual button closure.

If it gets too warm, the jacket can be removed to reveal a vest.  The vest is an orange-gold, which helps it to stand out against the yellow-gold of the jacket. It is also removable.

Underneath the vest is a button back white shirt.  When the shirt is worn with the vest and jacket, flared sleeves can be pulled out to give the overall appearance of a very classic ensemble.

The outfit is made complete with black pants which have gold side stripes.

What’s the Beast without Belle?  To that end, Pink Princess has you covered, too.

Celebrating Mother’s Day

Happy Mother’s Day!

Mothers are so special in so many ways. When I was growing up I remember how beautiful my mother looked and how hard she worked just to keep the house in order and get the food on the table. She worked tirelessly to prepare healthy meals, washed my clothes, helped with homework, break up fights between my brothers and I, comforted me when I had “ouchies” and showed great patience when I was demanding or difficult. She went through great lengths to make sure I was healthy, happy and successful. Prior to having my own children, I thought I understood the meaning of love and sacrifice of a parent. However, after having my daughter Aria and son Nicolas, the meaning of love and sacrifice took on a whole new dimension. Now, as I celebrate my mother, it is with more thoughtfulness, tenderness and appreciation. For this year, she said that she wanted something simple, preferably something Aria and Nicolas can make for her.

This year for Mother’s Day my kids wanted to create an artwork to add to the monetary gift my husband and I had for my mother. After pondering for a bit about what my kids could do, I found some 14 x 14 white canvases at a local craft store. They were regular looking canvases, but they had a 4×6 insert to fit a photo of your choice. Aria and Nicolas painted their hands and made hand prints on the canvases. It was very simple and fast! When the paint was dry I inserted a cute photo of the kids. They made one for my mother and the other for my mother-in-law.

We had an early celebration for my mother this year. We took her to a Chinese restaurant, and the food was very yummy!

But the exciting part was when we presented the canvas to her and she was absolutely tickled with delight. She loved the hand prints! I love this craft so much that I think I’ll have the kids make one for me. It’s a very sweet gift. Happy Mother’s Day!!!!!

Favorite Easter Dresses

Happy April!  We hope you had a wonderful Easter holiday with family and friends.  It was a very busy Easter season at Pink Princess, as parents eagerly and carefully shopped for “Sunday Best” outfits for their little ones.

Wanna know what was the most purchased dress?  Out of the hundreds of Easter dresses Pink Princess had to offer, which ones did Pink Princess customers love the most?

Here is the countdown of Favorite Pink Princess Easter Dresses of 2013:

#8 - Lilac Yoryu Chiffon Dress w/Rose Buds

#7 - Yellow Yoryu Chiffon Dress w/Rose Buds

#6 - Fuchsia Embroidered Tulle Bodice w/Tulle Skirt

#5 - Champagne Vintage Satin Tulle Dress

#4 - Light Blue Striped Cotton Seersucker Dress

#3 - Turquoise 3-Tier Chiffon Sequins Dress

#2 - Aqua Embroidered Crinkled Taffeta Dress

And the number 1 most purchased Pink Princess dress of Easter 2013 is…

#1 - Off-White Yoryu Chiffon Dress w/Rose Buds

It is interesting to note that #8, #7, and #1 are actually the same rosebud dress; they are just in different colors, with off-white being the utmost favorite.

We can’t say we’re surprised that this dress was such a hit.  Three-dimensional accents have been trending in fashion for several years now (ruffles, anyone?), and it’s not going anywhere.  As a matter of fact, several other dresses on this list feature three-dimensional accents on a solid color (#6, #3).  These fabrics are eye-catching and offer a fun alternative from traditional patterns.

What was your Easter purchase from Pink Princess?  Tell us in comments!

Thrill Rides

A couple of weeks ago my son Nicolas finally had his first experience riding on roller coasters. For his 7th birthday my family and I took him to a local amusement park to celebrate his special day. While taking a 7yr. old child on thrill rides may not seem a big deal to many, for my husband and I, it was a monumental day to remember.

A few blogs ago I had written about Nicolas’ sensory challenges since he was an infant. At the age of two, swinging back and forth and side to side was unbearable for him. When his occupational therapist would work with him on this particular issue, Nicolas would run away screaming and crying with his arms flailing in all directions. She would run after him and lovingly embrace him with her firm arms until he calmed down. Although he’s come a long way since then, I didn’t think he would overcome most of his sensory issues as early as he has.

That day at the amusement park Nicolas had finally changed his tune. There were no signs of fear, no screaming and no crying. No one had to run after him to calm him down. The only sound that came from his lips were laughter and joyful shouts as he rode each ride that he considered too scary only a year ago. That was music to my ears! His smile was so wide I didn’t think his mouth could stretch so far! At the end of the day he kissed my hand and said, “I love you mom! I had a great time!” As exhausting and expensive as that day was, it was well worth it!

Bouquet of Cards

Flowers are one of the most beautiful things I truly appreciate and admire. What’s not to love about them? The various colors, shapes and fragrances they offer to our senses can bring healing, passion, sentimentality and joy to our spirit. I’m always touched whenever my husband Eric would bring home a bouquet of flowers to surprise me on my birthday or on our anniversary. Words of love and encouragement that follow seem to penetrate more deeply into my heart, making those flowers even more beautiful, more vivid and more special to me. For this reason I wish flowers can last forever. But we all know that they don’t. So how can I recreate a similar experience without having flowers die out on me? Flowers don’t last forever, but cards do!

Cards can’t be as wonderful as flowers in the way they look and smell, but they can hold written messages that can capture a moment in time. For the past 7 years I have written down a variety of meaningful compliments my husband and people have said to me on little cards that I have made for myself. A wise person once suggested that I start this collection of cards so I can always refer to them when I need to remind myself that I am loved, valued and special. She called them a bouquet of cards. So whenever my spirit is down and I need a little pick me up, I would rummage through my stack of hand made cards and read through them. Although not quite the same as receiving flowers, the written words on the cards would penetrate my heart just as deeply.

I have taken this idea and applied it to my friends as well. A couple of my friends have received a stack of homemade cards from me, and I suggested that they write down words of encouragement and love they receive from others around them. They really appreciated this idea and it has blessed them a great deal. I plan to start a bouquet of cards for my kids soon. Kids and adults alike can never get too spoiled when it comes to being reminded of how much they are appreciated and valued from their family, friends and teachers.

Have you met Joan?

We are smack dab and a half in the middle of an extremely busy communion season. To ensure there is something for everyone, we’ve stocked Pink Princess Headquarters with every type of white dress imaginable:  Knee length, tea length, floor length, satin, organza, taffeta, beads, sequins, flowers…you need it, we got it.

Communion dresses rank right up there with wedding dresses in sentimental value, and when choosing a dress of that level of importance, our customers demand a certain “wow factor.” We couldn’t agree more.  We want to offer that “wow factor,” and so while scouring the high fashion markets for communion dresses earlier this year, there was one name we keep hearing over and over:  Joan Calabrese.

Joan with Miss New Hampshire USA and models

For almost 40 years, designer Joan Calabrese has been creating high-end children’s clothing for stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue, Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. Her couture dresses have been worn by young members of the British Royal Family, daughters of many Heads of State, and child celebrities.

Here is Jackie Evancho (America's Got Talent) wearing a blue Joan Calabrese dress at the Toronto Film Festival. Yes, standing next to her is THE Robert Redford!

Now you can find Joan Calabrese communion dresses right here at Pink Princess!  We love carrying this line because we know that every dress is worthy of becoming a treasured heirloom.

Take a peek at some of Joan’s gorgeous, timeless pieces:

Hair Bows and Clips

From time to time, I look for cute projects to work on, something I often do whenever I need a break from the humdrum of life.

After surfing the net for some inspiration, I came across an adorable art project. It was practical and could be easily made with most of the materials I already had. What was required was a shadow box,  a wooden alphabet letter of my choice, scissors, pencil, paper cutter, acid free cardstock (12×12), different colored silk flowers of various sizes, ladybug and dragonfly buttons, ribbons, glue gun, glue stick and pink adhesive round gems.

The ribbons would be attached to the back of the box and they would hang from the bottom, providing a place to clip little girls’ hair clips and bows for organization, storage and display.

It took several days for me to finalize the format. My goal was to build an artful display around the letter “L,” in reference to the name of a close friend for whom the project was intended. It was difficult to find a cardstock that complemented the colors of all the pieces, but once everything was to my satisfaction, my glue gun went to work, and the product was completed in an hour.

I had a great time making this project, and I would probably do another one soon. They’ll make great birthday gifts for my fortunate friends.
