A St. Patrick’s Day at the Office

Date: Wednesday March 17, 2010

I went around the office and downtown today, taking random shots of those who decided to partake in today’s holiday tradition of wearing green. It’s nice to see everyone, including whole families, striding along in their coolest green shirt. However, believe it or not, there’s more to this Irish holiday than fashion and a pint of Gunniess. A few months ago, Pink Princess had the opportunity to contribute a total of 28 party style dresses to the “8th Annual Jazz in January” fund raising event, which included a special performance by Jonathan Butler and Rick Braun. This event is held annually with all the proceedings benefiting the Ocean Institute’s educational programs. This program is created to increase awareness and understanding of the ocean environment to over 100,000 students every year through science, maritime, and outdoor education.

Here are thank you letters from a couple of young children who had the opportunity to experience and benefit from this enriching program…

Letter number 1 reads:

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lacy,

Thank you so much for allowing me to visit the Ocean Institute at Dana Point. It was the first time many of us had seen the Pacific Ocean. We had so much fun looking at Shark’s teeth, and touching starfish and fish. We loved the Octopus and Big Al. Thank you again for your kindness and generosity.

Love, Jordy

Letter number 2 reads:

Dear Ocean Institute,

Thank you so much for this opportunity. I loved learning about the Moon Jellies Life Cycle. I liked looking at the plankton on the Shore Lab. Out on the R/V sea Explorer I saw California Sea Lions, I also got to hear different dolphin and whale sounds. I learned all about the Moon Jellies Life Cycle I also learned how big and small they could be. This field trip inspired me to learn more about marine biology so I will do a lot better in school. Thanks again I loved the field trip and can’t wait to go back I had the time of my life!

Sincerely, Alyssa Macias”

25 Days Until Easter, Oh My!

Date: Tuesday March 9, 2010
Posted in: Easter Dresses & Outfits

Don’t forget that Easter is just around the corner. This year, it falls during early April, on the 4th to be exact.  I know of several parents still struggling to find time in their busy schedule to go all out to shop for the full Easter attire. That’s why I  wanted to make sure to make this task easier than ever. With free shipping and free returns, there’s no risk of not finding the right color, right size, or simply what the little one wants. There’s so many new styles we just got in for 2010, and we’re excited to see them on all the young boys and girls.

I just put our new Easter dress banner on the home page:

This is absolutely posh! I’m loving fuchsia more and more.

Such a perfect Easter dress!

It’s been a busy March so far. With so many First Communions, spring weddings, and Easter on the way, it’s no wonder everyone’s in demand for the cutest dress or the most adorable suit to get for their little one. This Saturday morning, we spent the whole time processing new inventory and getting them ready for this new season. Below are photos of some of the flower girl dresses and boys suits and tuxedos that have been tagged and ready to go. It’ll be a busy busy week to go, and I am ready!

My favorite style this month is D3160 the 3-Tier Chiffon Sequence Dress, in all 3 colors, Turquoise, Off-White and Yellow. It’s simple but with enough detail at the neckline to stand out. The chiffon makes the dress light and easy to walk around in.  Even if she’s not taking part in a special event, she can still wear this dress as a casual outfit.

Ever since I started working at Pink Princes my favorite style has been D1120, which is the Dotted Two Tone Shantung dress in pretty much every color. I like how it has enough detail at the top and a simple solid skirt. The rosebud at the waist gives it that extra dressed up look. I noticed parents tend to order the Red or Burgundy more in the Christmas season, but all the other 6 colors, Coral, Champagne, Lilac, Navy Blue, Olive and Pink are just as pretty for Easter, a Flower Girl, or as a special birthday dress.

I was lucky to take off 1 day to Las Vegas to explore the new fashion trends of the world at the Kid Show and Magic Marketplace in Las Vegas last week. The shows took place at Bally’s Hotel, Las Vegas Convention Center, and Mandalay Bay. Some say that kid’s fashion doesn’t change as rapidly as adult fashion, but I no longer agree with that. As mom’s are becoming more fashion conscious, they are also being more aware of the latest and greatest in terms of what the kids should wear. The hotter items at the show seemed to gear towards flower hand bands, flower head bows, and fancy pretty pettiskirts. Hot colors this year are pink, fuchsia, black, aqua, purple right now, which makes me happy because those are all eye candy to me!

Adorable baby at the lovely accessory booth. She was the perfect model!

I was on a search for Christening Satin Booties, and came across some of these adorable baby shoes!

Hair bows, hair clips, head bands, and more.

This fuchsia pettiskirt is so cute, I almost wish there was an adult size for me!

Magic Kids is small as usual, but it was fun just to walk around see the new trends anyways.

Google Adwords 201 Seminar

Date: Thursday January 28, 2010
Posted in: News & Events

I attended the Google Adwords 201 Seminar in Glendale, and hopefully it provided me some insights to how to improve internet marketing and advertising. One thing I did take from it is to target the market more specifically as well as to try testing to see which landing pages might work better than another. If all this is gibberish to you, then please ignore and just enjoy  some photos taken there:

With Communion time just around the corner, a lot of mothers are trying to find that perfect dress for their little princess to wear on this important day. Not only does it have to be affordable and appropriate to the moms.  It also has to be comfortable and beautiful enough for their daughter to wear.   And let’s be honest, a mother/daughter agreeing on the same fashion taste may not always be the easiest thing to do.   Especially since majority of churches have their own dress code guidelines.

I went to private school my whole life, and had a set uniform. When it came down to making my First Communion I was so excited because I thought I’d finally be able to wear something I like.  That wasn’t the case.  I was making it in the summer, June to be exact. For those of you who live in California, you know how hot it can get during that time. Unfortunately for the girls making it along with me, we were told we were not allowed to wear spaghetti strap, nor sleeveless dresses.  So there I was, in a long sleeve (with shoulder pads), pantyhose so that the crinoline wouldn’t itch my legs, poufy dress in the middle of June in 90 plus degree weather. It wasn’t exactly what I had pictured my special day to be.  I remember getting home from church and changing.

Young girls have many options now a days and churches are being reasonable and allowing girls to wear spaghetti strap dresses BUT with a shawl or bolero for the Mass part, which is understandable. They can pick from tea length to ankle length, sequins or embroidered, sleeveless or cap sleeved.  Majority of the Communion Dresses come with crinoline followed by smooth material that touches the leg instead of having to deal with the scratchy material on the legs.  It’s the detail on the dress that I think makes it stand out.  You can get a simple A-Line dress with just enough detail on the bodice to make it stand out like our style LSP947-WT.  Or go for a more extravagant look with our D3130-WT that has embroidery all around the dress.  If you really want your daughter to shine all night, then you’ll defiantly like our LSP927-WT which has rhinestone detail on the bodice.

With so many selections in Communion Dresses that we offer, we’re sure coming to an agreement on what you like and what your daughter wants, won’t be a hassle.
